As the snow begins to blanket the mountains of Park City, and the ski resorts begin working on their equipment in preparation for opening day, people all over the world are making plans of their own, including a Christmas journey to our mountain town and a stay in our I Love Park City holiday hideaways. Making white Christmas dreams come true, our Utah town offers the opportunity to enjoy all the familiar traditions while starting some new ones, including how you enjoy the Christmas feast. This guide to your Christmas dinner in Park City will help you keep yours the same or make some necessary changes that will give the chief cook of your family a break that is so richly deserved.
Give Her the Gift of Relaxation
It may sound sexist, but in most households across the world, it is mom that is responsible for the lion’s share of kitchen duties, but I Love Park City thinks this year could look very different. Many of our local restaurants will be open on this most festive day of the year, ready and eager to engage in their two passions, making food and feeding hungry people, with the restaurants listed below doing so extraordinarily well!
Flanagan’s on Main, 438 Main Street
Everyone has a different idea of what makes a Christmas meal special, and if you think that the casual and welcoming environs of an Irish pub are what you need to celebrate, Flanagan’s on Main invites you to check out what’s for dinner! Offering a special three-course holiday menu on Christmas Eve AND Christmas Day, a dinner here is a gift that is unwrapped with every bite. There’s no word yet if the menu will be different from last year’s, which featured seafood, lamb, and a delicious strawberry bread pudding for dessert.
KITA, 2417 W High Mountain Road
When traveling, we always try to include at least one special occasion restaurant on our itinerary, and the Japanese American inspired dishes served at KITA may just make you choose it for your Christmas meal. Offering a three-course menu on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, this special restaurant is a relatively new one on the Park City landscape, but after tasting last year’s offerings we can’t wait to see what they provide this year!
Glitretind Restaurant, 7700 Stein Way
Traditions ground us, and the Christmas dinner buffet served at Glitretind Restaurant is one of our most delicious ones. Offering everything from ceviche to roasted elk, we suggest that diners wear their stretchy pants and pace themselves when dining on this meal. You want to taste a little of everything, and we would hate to see you have to stop dining before you have, especially when you see the superb selection of desserts that are just waiting to be sampled!
The Best of Both Worlds
Not everyone is excited about the idea of battling snow and traffic, but if you don’t want to cook, you may think there is no alternative. Fortunately, we at I Love Park City have done the research, and the places we have listed below allow guests to order takeout and enjoy the meal at home in front of roaring fires!
Saltbox Eatery and Catering, 1782 Prospector Avenue
It may be cold outside on Christmas Day, but you will be warm, cozy, and devouring a Christmas dinner in Park City from the Saltbox inside, so you won’t mind a bit. Offering an a la carte menu that includes prime rib or orange cranberry glazed sea bass, each order is packed with reheating instructions, allowing diners to enjoy the taste and smell of from scratch cooking without any of the muss or fuss that generally accompanies the preparation of a big feast. Orders must be placed at least 72 hours in advance, so set a reminder in your phone today.
Whole Foods Market, 6598 N Landmark Drive
Restaurants aren’t the only businesses offering precooked meals and Whole Foods is the perfect example. Offering a huge selection of catered meals, including ones for the Jewish high holidays, you may end up spending a lot more time exploring their options than you do actually devouring the delicious meals. Orders must be placed at least 48 hours in advance, so if you forget to order from Saltbox, you have a backup plan!
