Go on a Scenic Drive
If you are in Park City with younger kids, pack a picnic and go on a scenic drive that takes you to the nearby forests, lakes, and mountains. We know that not everyone enjoys going hiking, so hopping in a rental car and taking a lovely drive is the best way to see it all. If you are feeling super motivated, you can even rent a bike for your entire family and go out on the tarmac to put in some miles.
We recommend going to the Uinta Wasatch Cache National Forest in the Intermountain Region. This breathtaking forest offers far-reaching views of pine forests, bright blue lakes, and snow-capped mountains in the foreground. We also love going to Strawberry Bay if you are interested in fishing, boating, kayaking, or stand-up paddleboarding. Strawberry Reservoir also combines with the Bay, offering the perfect watersports adventure.
To continue your car journey, we recommend going to Mirror Lake Highway and traveling through the national forest. Mirror Lake is a fantastic crystal-blue lake that looks like something out of a dream. Its bright blue color, flower-filled meadows, rugged mountain peaks, and dramatic mountain terrain make it one of the best scenic spots in the entire country.
Go Fishing
We know that a lot of dads love fishing! Nothing is better than heading out to a lake or river, getting your fishing gear ready, and having a nice bonding afternoon with your father or husband. And the good thing is, there are tons of spots in Park City for you to go fishing with your own gear or use a professional for some hands-on help.
We love going to Queant Lake for a peaceful afternoon, Mirror Lake to go fishing after a walk around the crystal-clear water, or Fish Lake to try and catch some of the fresh trout located deep beneath the surface. The good thing is there are over 400 miles of streams, lakes, and rivers, so you will almost never run into anyone else in your favorite spot.
Enjoy Watersports
If your dad or husband is a fitness freak, or an adrenaline junkie, we know they will love the watersports in Park City. Jordanelle Reservoir is great for a full day of stand-up paddleboarding and a few beers afterwards. Strawberry Reservoir is the ideal spot for kayak rentals and paddling along the meandering current. Lastly, we love Deer Creek for boating, wakeboarding, canoeing, or water skiing on a hot day.
Grab a Beer After a Long Day
After a long day of hiking, driving, fishing, and watersports, it might be time to chill out. Luckily, we know just where to go. Your dad will love grabbing an ice-cold pint from one of the many craft breweries located in and around Park City, UT, during his special weekend here.
First, you can’t miss Top of the Main Brew Pub, offering a modern and sleek feel on your typical pub, featuring unique beers, tons of craft pours, and pub grub. Try one of their famous draft beers, like the Top of Main Utah Beer lager, Wasatch Apricot Hefeweizen, or SLB Co. Emigration Amber Ale. Pair any of these with some nachos or crispy fries for a perfect post-fishing treat.
Another spot that is a must-visit is Offset Bier. We love this low-key and laid-back brewery that offers a tasting room feel, featuring hand-crafted beers that are sure to knock your socks off. We love the DOP Modern IPA, with a hoppy and fruit-forward taste that is perfect during the summer months. Or try the Glossy Modern IPA with a high ABV that features sweetness, citrus, and dried apricot flavors. Yum!
Lastly, Park City Brewing is a staple among tourists and locals that offers sports on TV, tasty beers, and pub food that is perfect for sharing. We recommend sharing the hot cheese curds with marinara, PCB pretzel bites with Sirens Call beer cheese, and tri-tip kebabs with roasted mushrooms, onions, jalapenos, and house-made teriyaki sauce with the table.
