Ski Season in Park City Begins November 22
Although weather conditions can cause this to change, at the time of this writing, all signs point to the resorts opening on Friday, November 22, coinciding with the holiday season and ensuring that your visit will be filled with magic! Thanksgiving comes a little later this year, taking place on November 28, making visitors very thankful for a ski vacation in Park City. If you are going to be here on opening day, however, preferring to spend the holiday at home with extended family, there will be plenty of fun to be had, beginning with complimentary donuts, coffee, and live music being played on opening day.
Snow Globe Stroll, November 22 – January 5
It won’t matter if you are visiting the week before Thanksgiving, the week of Thanksgiving, or anytime in the month of December, because you won’t be able to miss the Snow Globe Stroll that begins on November 22 and continues all the way into the new year, offering seven bigger than life-sized snow globes, each offering a display that coincides with the Christmas song being played. As you are exploring the magic of the snow globes, you can also be getting in some last-minute holiday shopping, checking out the Main Street Christmas tree, and posting a letter to Santa in our official Santa Mailbox located on Main Street. Offering a hotline directly to Santa’s workshop, your littles will not be able to keep their excitement to themselves when mailing their very important letter!
Canyons Village Tree Lighting Ceremony, November 29th
If you are here for Thanksgiving, however, the Canyons Village Tree Lighting Ceremony takes place on November 29th and offers an exciting array of holiday activities. Starting at 3 PM, the shops of Pendry Plaza and Canyons Village will offer some wonderful sales, encouraging guests to get started on their long list of gifts needing to be purchased, and then at 4 PM, the holiday music begins. (We dare you to try and not sing along to the carols you know and love!) From 4:30 to 5:45, the biggest holiday celebrity of all, Santa Claus, will appear for photos and Christmas requests, and at 6 PM, the tree will light up the night. Immediately after the tree is lit, the skies will light up with a colorful display of fireworks and your Christmas will be brighter because it began right here in Canyons Village!
Holiday Shows at the Egyptian Theater, December 5 through December 25th
The historic Egyptian Theater, located at 328 Main Street is the center of holiday performances throughout the month of December, offering live shows that include “Christmas with the Celts” (December 5-8), the eagerly awaited “Park City’s Holiday Spectacular and Singalong” (December 13-22), and one of our Park City Christmas traditions, an evening with Kurt Bestor, celebrating the holiday in ways only this composer can (December 23-25). We really don’t consider it Christmas in Park City until Kurt Bestor comes to town, and once you catch his performance, we think you will understand why!
Celebrating Homes: Holiday Tree Show, 4001 Kearns Boulevard, December 6 and 7
Because you will still want to get as much time as you can in on the slopes, this next event takes place over 2 days, starting at 1 PM and ending at 8 PM on December 6th and starting at 10 AM and ending at 5 PM on December 7. Costing nothing to attend, Celebrating Homes: Holiday Tree Show is sponsored by Habitat for Humanity, features over two dozen trees decorated by local businesses, designers, organizations, and community groups, as well as a selection of menorahs, gingerbread houses, and other holiday symbols. Kids’ activities will bring a sparkle to your children’s eyes, and a pop-up holiday boutique will more than likely add an extra shine to yours!
