Memorial Day Weekend is a time to leave the stresses of work and school behind to explore somewhere new, chill out with your friends, and just enjoy time in the beautiful weather. We think the best spot to do that is in Park City, a bustling mountain town with an upbeat atmosphere perfect for a weekend away from home: try a Memorial Day in Park City!

Explore the Numerous State Parks

One of the best activities you can do with people of various fitness levels and ages is exploring the state parks. It doesn’t mean that you need to go on a challenging 7-hour hike with your younger kids, but it does mean that you can explore nature, see the local wildlife, take photos of breathing rolling hills and flowers, and have a great time getting some fresh mountain air.

Head to Deer Creek State Park for a nice walk with your kids for a post-lunch treat. Or check out Jordanelle State Park to go fishing and biking along the dirt paths to break a sweat and do an adrenaline-pounding activity. We also love going to Rockport State Park to bring a picnic and have an outdoor lunch under the colorful trees. For cardio, you can also go for a morning trail run at the nearby Echo Reservoir!

Take a Drive

If you are a little short on time, but you want to see all the wildlife and nature surrounding Park City, going for a scenic drive is one of the best ways to see the far-reaching views, never-ending vistas, towering mountains, lush green pine forests, and bright blue lakes. You don’t have to hike for hours and hours to get great views – taking a drive along Guardsman Pass and the mirror Lake Scenic Byway is a perfect alternative.

Shop Along Main Street

If you want to get a bit of shopping done this holiday weekend or need a new date-night outfit for the first evening of your Memorial Day Weekend, walk along Main Street to shop the vintage, boutique, chain, and tourist shops to find exactly what you want. You can also learn more about the culture of the town and the history of Park City by visiting educational institutions, like the Park City Museum.

Go Out to Dinner

There is no better time to go to dinner than if you are on a family vacation or a couple’s retreat in Park City, UT for a bustling and busy holiday weekend. We love the buzz that surrounds this small mountain town on a holiday weekend, filled with locals and tourists alike. Make sure you book a reservation and secure a table at one of the popular spots, like tupelo Park City or Handle, to have mouthwatering food and strong drinks.

At tupelo, we love ordering the buttermilk biscuits with honey butter, deviled eggs with creme fraiche and fried country ham, and the crispy brussels sprouts with dried cranberries and feta for starters. For a main dish, you can’t go wrong with the Iberian pork chop with white cheddar hominy grits and peach barbecue sauce or the charred cauliflower and butter bean hummus for veg-heads.

Handle is the spot for you if you want fresh produce and a farm-to-table vibe. Order the oysters with mignonette, kale with pine nuts, and hamachi crudo with Calabrian chile vinaigrette and toasted breadcrumbs as unique starters to split with the table. Then, try the mushroom Bolognese with truffled mascarpone, fried chicken with grilled carrots, or lamb T-bone with garam masala and white yam for a main dish.

Listen to Some Live Music

To keep the party going all night long after a healthy dinner overlooking the beautiful ski slopes and snow-capped mountains, we recommend going to one of the local bars or live music venues in Park City to listen to talented musicians. Check out Boneyard Saloon on Kearns Boulevard to have a few drinks, chat with locals, and enjoy the holiday vibe.

Or check out The Cabin, a chilled-out bar with outdoor seating, indie musicians, and local singers who can get you up out of your chair and singing in no time. Another fantastic spot to check out bands coming through town who may be here to play specifically for Memorial Day is Park City Live on Main Street, a concert venue that is fun, safe, and spacious.
