Summer is arguably the best time to come to Park City. The weather is warm and sunny, wildflowers are in full bloom, hiking trails are open for the season, and there is so much for you to do. Check out our must-do items to add to your itinerary this upcoming Park City summer to have the best time possible.

Hit the trails!

Happy hiking, everyone! Park City is home to many trails, paths, bikeways, and walkways that are ideal for exploring nature, burning calories, getting in your 10K steps per day, and enjoying quality time with your loved ones. Not sure where to start? Check out these popular excursions that are great for people of varying fitness levels and ages.

If you just have a few hours to kill and want something with the best of the best, hit the Bloods Lake and Lackawaxen Trail. Don’t be put off by the name — this trail is a nice and gentle path that is less than 3 miles and features less than 500 feet of elevation gain, meaning you can do this with younger kids without any issue.

Although there are moderately steep areas, this popular hike is great for swimming in the lake, bringing a picnic lunch, and meandering through the hills to sit and chill out in the open meadows. The lush greenery, pine trees, wildflowers in the meadows, and cool lake water are perfect for a hot summer day!

Next, Silver Lake to Bald Mountain is a smart hike for those who want something a little bit harder that takes around 2-3 hours. This out-and-back trail is nearly 45 miles but features almost 1,500 feet of elevation gain, so you will definitely feel your quads during this walk. This breathtaking trail is perfect for moderately fit individuals who want bird’s-eye views, great photo opportunities, and diverse wildlife.

For trail runners who want unobstructed views for their entire line, the Lofty Lakes loop is a 4.4-mile loop that offers almost 1,000 feet of elevation gain. We love going for a run on this trail early in the morning with our dog on a leash as we gaze out over the alpine lakes and views of Park City and Mirror Lake. The lakes on this path are truly breathtaking, making it one of the must-do hikes for all Park City tourists.

Lastly, we can’t get enough of Alpine Lakes in Park City, featuring bright blue water, wildflower meadows, expansive views, and well-marked trails—and the Three Divide Lakes path is no exception. This 5.4-mile loop trail is dog-friendly and offers 500 feet of elevation gain. Head to the Crystal Lake Trailhead and walk along this path to see Clyde Lake, Lofty Lakes, and the Three Divide Lakes. The effort is well worth it!

Have a Drink

After a long day of being out on the trail and working as hard as you can to reach the peak, it might be time to relax and chill out with a cold beer. Sounds good, doesn’t it? We think so, too! Head to O’Shucks Bar and Grill on Main Street to watch a sports agent on the TV, chat with locals, and have a cheap beer with a laid-back vibe. Or try No Name Saloon if you are in the mood for an Old-Western-themed bar and tasty cocktails!

Want to watch a game on TV? Sit in Collie’s Sports Bar and Grill, order some shareable appetizers to split with the table, and sip on a craft beer as you cheer on your favorite football or baseball team. For those who want to stick with the ‘old-time’ vibe, Boneyard Saloon and High West Saloon are two themed bars that offer tasty food, shareable appetizer dishes, great beer selections, and fun atmospheres.

Visit a Winery

Park City has many bars, but it also offers wineries ideal for a summer excursion. We love going to Old Town Cellars on Main Street to learn more about wine, learn more about how wine is made, and sample some of the best varietals in the entire state. Head here any day before 10 p.m. to relax in the bar and lounge, shop at the oTc bottle shop, or book your own private experience, like tastings and events.

Visit Park City Brewing

Get a great view of the nearby mountains, sit outside on a hot Park City summer day, and sip on a cold beer at Park City Brewing. We love coming here after a day of hiking, biking, swimming, or walking around the downtown area to soak in the pristine views, enjoy a few cocktails, or try the fantastic craft beer. Order some smoked chicken drums, hot cheese curds, or PCB pretzel bites, and pair them with any beer on draft for dinner.
